Description
Origin
The frigate tuna is a subspecies belonging to the tuna family, highly appreciated in gastronomy. However, the one that fills the cans of Canthynnus has a very specific surname: canutera. Unlike the conventional frigate tuna, which can weigh up to a kilo and a half, the canutera has a much smaller size and weight, which makes its fillets thin and delicate.

Prepared by
The canned frigate tuna, upon arrival at the factory, is cleaned and quartered to obtain the loins of each specimen. They undergo a cooking process and are then selected and canned by hand. Their careful handling allows the consumer to open the package and find perfect fillets in size and texture, which are covered in the final stage of production with a layer of olive oil.

Experience
It is common to see frigate mackerel fillets in some potatoes aliñás or in a country salad. If you feel like using it in other starters, you can put it on a toast with some roasted peppers, in a chickpea salad or in a pasta salad with cherry tomatoes and hard-boiled egg. You can also put it on top of a mushroom carpaccio, as a topping in salmorejo or accompanying baby spinach with walnuts and olives.

Conservation
Its shelf life is 6 years from the date of manufacture, however, canning experts advise that, once the product is opened, it should be consumed within 24 hours. The ideal place for storage should be cool, dry and not exceeding 35ºC, without the need for industrial refrigeration.
